Apple made waves by releasing OS X Mavericks for free this October. It was more than a pricing change—it was a statement.
For me, Mavericks felt like a refinement cycle. Better battery life, tabbed Finder (finally!), and an overall snappy experience even on older hardware.
The "free OS" shift was interesting too. It forced me to reflect on how we value software—not by the price tag, but by the velocity and quality of experience.
As a developer, I appreciated the cleaner multi-display support most. No more weird full-screen behavior with dual monitors!
